When Dreams Die, So Goes Greatness

Crim/Sprague Land Boundary Dispute Appears Clear To DTDN.net

The Dare To Dream Network founder, Barbara Williams, received a 5-page email article from Mother Media on December 9, 2005 titled;  "New Mexico Land War Brewing - Actress Marsha Mason Denies Allegations She's Causing Abiquiu Conflict" - by Leland Lehrman (mothermedia@33o.com

After reading the Mother Media/Sprague article, and an email inquiry from Stephan Fox (Sun News reporter), the DareToDreamNetwork.net team found that it did not reflect both sides of the story. Though the article referenced the dispute as being between a well-known actress and Mr. Sprague, the article clearly defined the dispute as being between Mr. Allen Crim and Mr. Tony Sprague. It is DTDN's impression, upon personally hearing both sides, since we were initially contacted by Mr. Sprague seeking Dare To Dream's assistance, that it was clearly an issue between Mr. Crim and Mr. Sprague.  The assault charge filed by the police against Mr. Sprague in and of itself had nothing to do with the other party mentioned in Mother Media's article.

We have no idea why the title referencing this conflict said it was between this well-known actress and Mr. Sprague, unless it was just to sell more print, "truth be damn"! Mr. Lehrman, the 10-foot Sprague trespass was in the road which the Crim's own!

[DTDN will stick with and present the facts herein as we know them.

Background:

DTDN founders, Barbara and Dan Williams, heard both sides of Mr. Sprague's and Mr. Crim's story months prior to Mr. Lehrman's article, and the pursuant law suit.

Tony showed up one day at our home with survey/plat maps which he wanted to discuss with us. When Mr. Sprague was asked specifics concerning the survey map and boundaries Mr. Sprague was unclear and appeared unsure of his position. When asked if he had gotten a survey done when he first purchased his property, he stated he had not. After listening to Mr. Sprague for some time, reviewing the survey map, and knowing that Mr. Crim and Mr. Sprague were friends before this dispute, we suggested that Tony attempt to work it out with Mr. Crim. We expressed to Mr. Sprague that if Mr. Crim was correct, and if the property fence was crossing onto Mr. Crim's private road/easement on the west side, and also on the north side access easement, then Mr. Sprague's fences would need to be moved back. We asked Mr. Sprague if he wanted us to talk with Mr. Crim on his behalf to see if we could help settle the matter, but Mr. Sprague declined.

In the interest of fairness, and knowing some of the remarks in the article were in complete opposition to what we had first hand knowledge of, Barbara immediately contacted Mr. Lehrman to inform him that there was another side of the story which was not reflected in his article and she felt in all fairness, he should meet with the Crim's. And if he would like, she would contact Mr. Crim to see if an interview could be set up.  DTDN received a response the same day from Mr. Lehrman wanting us to find out which day would be good for Mr. Crim and for us to set up the interview.

Within 5-days Barbara sent Mr. Lehrman an email informing him that Mr. Crim would be open to an interview as long as the founders of DTDN were present, since Mr. Crim's attorney was out of town.  Barbara conferred with Mr. Crim and then emailed Mr. Lehrman letting him know it was set for Sunday Dec. 18, 2005 and asked if that date would work for him. Barbara never received a yes or no reply to her email.

We followed up with another email to Mr. Lehrman on the 17th of Dec. 2005, we received no response. Mr. Crim requested that DTDN post the evidence and his side of the story on the Dare To Dream Network web site!  It is for the reasons mentioned herein that we agreed to give Mr. Crim an opportunity to air his side.

Mr. Crim alleges, and the police report confirms, Mr. Sprague was in violation of a June-05 restraining order on Sept-05 when he assaulted Mr. Crim with a metal type club. The attack caused fractures to Mr. Crim's wrist. According to Mr. Crim, he was at a disadvantage when he was attacked  from behind since he had to control the large tractor while also trying to keep from being hit with this metal club.

The Crim's have also been under tremendous pressure, both have had recent medical issues while dealing with this added stress. Mrs. Crim was recovering from a serious surgery.

This is a synopsis of the allegations submitted in the 5-page Mother Media article;

We have only addressed the main issues of property boundaries in the dispute and the assault.
